I haven’t started blogging since the first day of the month has come, so I’ve just got back from reading a friend’s blog and I came across gratifying one of my friend’s requests (OWFYV)which is to talk about their band. Firstly, I am NOT a band promoter in the traditional sense and I do not arrange gigs and bookings. For some strange reason, that I can’t explain, I’ve been too schnookered with music everyday of my life and the lyrics are my story. I probably got something to do with escaping the drudgery of life when listening to my favorite songs. Music has the ability to affect any individual in every aspect of his or her life. It also gives a person the authority to express his or her thoughts, feelings, ideas, and point of view. In addition, music greatly influences society and the world that we live in. Music has undergone many changes throughout the years, from the polished and melodic intricacy of classical music to the unusual texture and aggressiveness of modern rock. Among popular genres, alternative rock etched its own mark on the music landscape. I think I haven’t lost my attention on this kind of music and I am one of the descendants of alternative rock. I find it baffling to write about oneself, so I often use research with this band that I am about to say things about. As I watched their videos on YouTube and then a bolt of lightning struck me on the side of the head and I said, “Oh - My - Good – God”, they are something to really look out for! I saw how they enjoy what they are playing and they chose tunes they are confident with. It shows they care about what they’re playing and they want to get it right.
First thing first, make way to the band KOMIKO who will treat you to an ear pleasing, heart stealing, joyful feeling good time! They are making their own mark in the alternative music scene. 小神子 (ko mi ko) is a Japanese name, consisting kanji of it mean 'small', "God, soul" and "kid" respectively. Based from my review on their songs, they made use of different chord structures, fast-paced musical arrangements, in your face attitude, and lyrics that raise people’s awareness about the society and the world that we live in. They have started recording on this month of October and their EP Album launch will be on November. This band made used aspects of the music that few people dared to tackle. Their songs unfolds, slowly and surely, utterly unhurried as the acoustic guitars pile up, and go higher up. Lyrics are spare, and Miko’s voice barely bears a modicum of expression; the bit where the "dirty creature" drawls "always dropping dirt on something that I care about the closest it gets to profundity. It's about those guitars by Poch Belmonte, the lead and Anna Ragot (owfyv) on bass guitar and back up vocals, and the dense of the mood by the drummer Chad Catorce. A group with magnificent and morose lost in a world of single being in performance. This deep, processed howl spills over plains of minimalist electronics, and found-objects provide a staggered, polyrhythmic groove. It is a paranoid wash, a mangled synthetic mass. I haven’t watched them perform live but I know I’m looking forward to see them in person and watch their gigs TOO soon, I guess not only once. =) You owe me one O5! LOL!
KOMIKO - Just get up the feeling of confidence and be happy and enjoy the music you’re playing – that’s all that counts at the end of it all! I hope all ALTERNATIVE lovers out there, like me, will continue to enjoy and get in involved with the alternative scene. Music is a great unifier and if we all continue to spread our love of music and pass on the tradition to future generations, we should keep it alive and kicking- all over the world!
