SALISI GANG ADVENTURES

I know this may sound old school but until now they are still on the loose! Last week, on the first day of the "ber” month, I was supposed to be a victim of these ruthless people. One rainy afternoon and I was on my encoding spot when all of a sudden, 2 women and a 7-8 year old girl came along to our shop. I was interrupted when one of them needed to fit a blouse from our collection. The first time the woman talked to me, I was already suspicious of her because of the way she talked to me and the way she looks. Since a customer needs to be assisted, it is a just rule that whatever walks in life he/she belongs to, the activity of contributing to the fulfillment of a need must be given fair and square.

So, I proceeded, I gave my hand to her and then I was annoyed when the woman handed her bag to the girl, I felt something odd about the situation, especially when the woman and the kid reached my computer table. There was a strange feeling back then, the woman was asking another set of blouses to fit in, gee! She tried to distract me but their intention didn’t succeed. I saw the girl, hurriedly grabbed something from my table. I rushed out distantly to them and made an obvious gesture that I was looking for something. I screamed and said that my cell phone was missing and then the woman suddenly held out from the girl’s bag my cell phone while telling me that the kid maybe assumed that it was a toy. She handed back my mobile phone. I told them that even if it was a toy or not, it was not justifiable getting someone’s property coz it was not hers. I told them that I would be calling the police, they went away and I was still shaking inside the moment they slipped away from our shop.
I went outside to call out for help but the public seemed to disregard me.

They rode on a motorcycle w/o a plate and that was a sure sign that their intention was not to buy something but to make some fraudulent schemes. Too bad, they are using the kid to do some bad tricks. I thanked God for giving me the ability to be alert and keen at that time.

I would like to share some tips, that I hope would be useful to avoid instances like these.

  1. Always be alert. Keep a watchful eye always on public places so you are aware of what's going on around you and you can react immediately
  2. Don't use cellphones, mp3s, iTouch and other expensive gadgets on public. It might also happen inside a store or a shop. Since it happened to me too. Seeing you with those items would only make you a target, so just be careful, do not bring out or place it wherever those things unattended.
  3. Don't be a superman. Though you could be aware of what's happening, don’t make a commotion to stop what was happening, instead find ways to avoid the situation. If you can still avoid the situation then go for it. Don't go busting what the hold uppers/ swindlers/salisi gang are doing coz they might end up doing worst.
  4. Pray before leaving the house. This is the most important tip that I can share with you. I can really testify that it is really by God's protection that we are all safe.
That’s why when I went to Manila last Saturday; I was really vigilant to my surroundings, especially when going to places like Quiapo or Divisoria.

Thanks to modern technology, most establishments now are installing CCTV otherwise known as closed-circuit television (surveillance camera). We can now trace back unexpected events and happenings. Having CCTVs in your establishment isn't a very welcoming idea, especially those people who are sensitive on certain privacy issues.

Well, everything has a good and bad side. The problem though with these CCTVs are, they aren't clear enough to identify the persons involved because such cameras don't have a high image/video resolution -- just yet.

WE ARE PLANNING TO PUT ONE ACTUALLY...

Salisi Gang's goal is to distract you so that your attention will be diverted and they can initiate their real motive.

So guys, do not leave your things unattended wherever you go. If you really need to, ask someone you trust to look after your belongings.

God bless us all.
